The Torch

The Symbol of NSBE

     The NSBE torch was created by George Smith, one of the original NSBE founders, in 1974 for the original Society of Black Engineers.

     The flame represents the original founders' "burning desire" to achieve success in a competitive society, and the lightning bolts represent the striking impact felt by the societies and industries as a result of the efforts of dedicated members of the National Society of Black Engineers.
